The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Shangyou plotted against Jiangxi and China. While Jiangxi and China both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Shangyou's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Shangyou's incremental SNDi rose from 2.49 to 2.94 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Shangyou ranked 25th out of 82 cities in Jiangxi and 565th out of 1843 in China as of 2020.

In new street additions, Kars and Jalaid both built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved, while Shangyou fluctuated in street-construction patterns. For the full network, Shangyou and Jalaid both became progressively more disconnected, while Kars grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. Shangyou and Kars have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
