The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Hawrah plotted against Ta`izz and Yemen. The SNDi of new construction in Hawrah followed a zig-zag trend with an overall decrease, compared to Ta`izz which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Yemen which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. In terms of the aggregate network, Hawrah ranked 6th out of 9 cities in Ta`izz and 52nd out of 58 in Yemen as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
In new street additions, Hawrah fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Rajpura built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved and Huangchuan built increasingly disconnected streets over time. Looking at the full network, Rajpura and Huangchuan both became progressively more disconnected, while Hawrah became progressively more connected.
