The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Ja`ar plotted against Abyan and Yemen. The SNDi of new construction in Ja`ar rose steadily, compared to Abyan which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Yemen which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Ja`ar's incremental SNDi rose from 4.05 to 4.81 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Ja`ar ranked 1st out of 2 cities in Abyan and 19th out of 58 in Yemen as of 2020.

In new street additions, Ja`ar and Yangiyul both built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Atri fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full network, Ja`ar and Yangiyul both became progressively more disconnected, while Atri became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards. Ja`ar and Atri have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
