Bến Cát in context: Street-network sprawl trends

The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Bến Cát plotted against Bình Dương and Vietnam. The SNDi of new construction in Bến Cát peaked in 1991-2005, compared to Bình Dương which peaked in 1991-2005 and Vietnam which rose steadily. Most recently, Bến Cát's incremental SNDi fell from 3.31 to 2.74 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Bến Cát ranked 1st out of 3 cities in Bình Dương and 5th out of 126 in Vietnam as of 2020.

For the full network, Bến Cát and Begamganj both grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved, while Gilgit became progressively more disconnected.
