Feodosia in context: Street-network sprawl trends
Feodosia in context
The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Feodosia plotted against Crimea and Ukraine. The SNDi of new construction in Feodosia peaked in 1991-2005, compared to Crimea which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Ukraine which rose steadily. Most recently, Feodosia's incremental SNDi fell from 4.31 to 3.6 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Feodosia ranked 4th out of 5 cities in Crimea and 23rd out of 75 in Ukraine as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
In new street additions, Feodosia and Jarud both built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved, while Yixian built increasingly disconnected streets over time. For the full street network, though, all three cities follow the same trend. Notably, Feodosia had a more sprawly network than Jarud in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
