The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Fethiye plotted against Mugla and Turkey. While Mugla and Turkey both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Fethiye's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Fethiye's incremental SNDi rose from 1.41 to 1.6 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Fethiye ranked 1st out of 5 cities in Mugla and 17th out of 174 in Turkey as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
In new street additions, Fethiye fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Kure built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved and Santiago built increasingly disconnected streets over time. For the full street network, though, all three cities follow the same trend. Fethiye and Santiago have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
