The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Hammamet plotted against Nabeul and Tunisia. The SNDi of new construction in Hammamet followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, compared to Nabeul which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Tunisia which peaked in 1976-1990. Most recently, Hammamet's incremental SNDi rose from 2.87 to 3.18 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Hammamet ranked 2nd out of 2 cities in Nabeul and 20th out of 24 in Tunisia as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
In new street additions, Hammamet and Qugou both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Iwo built increasingly disconnected streets over time. For the full street network, though, all three cities follow the same trend. Hammamet and Qugou have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
