The SNDi of new construction in Chato rose steadily, compared to Geita which was at its lowest in 1976-1990 and Tanzania which was at its lowest in 1976-1990. Most recently, Chato's incremental SNDi rose from 1.02 to 1.1 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Chato ranked 1st out of 5 cities in Geita and 1st out of 45 in Tanzania as of 2020.

In new street additions, Chato and Balo-i both built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Ouélessébougou fluctuated in its street-construction patterns.
