The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Balkh plotted against Khatlon and Tajikistan. While Khatlon and Tajikistan both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Balkh's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Balkh's incremental SNDi rose from 5.83 to 7.82 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Balkh ranked 8th out of 9 cities in Khatlon and 18th out of 22 in Tajikistan as of 2020.

In new street additions, Balkh and Bejaad both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Izobilnyy built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then shifted to more disconnected patterns. For the full network, Balkh became progressively more disconnected, while Izobilnyy became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards and Bejaad grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. Balkh and Izobilnyy have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
