The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Kobani plotted against Aleppo and Syria. The SNDi of new construction in Kobani rose steadily, compared to Aleppo which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Syria which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Kobani's incremental SNDi rose from 1.89 to 2.19 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Kobani ranked 1st out of 7 cities in Aleppo and 4th out of 39 in Syria as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
While Matou and Keshan both built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved, Kobani built increasingly disconnected streets over time in new street additions. For the full street network, though, all three cities follow the same trend.
