The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Mellit plotted against North Darfur and Sudan. The SNDi of new construction in Mellit was at its lowest in 1976-1990, compared to North Darfur which was at its lowest in 1991-2005 and Sudan which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Mellit's incremental SNDi rose from 1.66 to 2.01 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Mellit ranked 6th out of 9 cities in North Darfur and 52nd out of 78 in Sudan as of 2020.

In new street additions, Mellit built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then shifted to more disconnected patterns, while Bardera fluctuated in its street-construction patterns and Irving built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. For the full network, Mellit became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards, while Bardera fluctuated in connectivity and Irving became progressively more disconnected. Notably, Mellit had a more connected network than Bardera in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
