The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Aroma plotted against Kassala and Sudan. The SNDi of new construction in Aroma rose steadily, compared to Kassala which peaked in 1991-2005 and Sudan which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Aroma's incremental SNDi rose from 1.11 to 2.04 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Aroma ranked 4th out of 6 cities in Kassala and 30th out of 78 in Sudan as of 2020.

In new street additions, Aroma built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Kilis fluctuated in its street-construction patterns and Zhenlai built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then shifted to more disconnected patterns. For the full network, Aroma and Kilis both became progressively more disconnected, while Zhenlai became progressively more connected. Aroma and Kilis have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
