The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Matsulu plotted against Mpumalanga and South Africa. All three follow the same trend in new construction, suggesting a shared regional pattern of development. Most recently, Matsulu's incremental SNDi rose from 3.43 to 4.0 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Matsulu ranked 6th out of 13 cities in Mpumalanga and 37th out of 81 in South Africa as of 2020.

For the full network, Matsulu and Kadiolo both became progressively more disconnected, while Mirzay fluctuated in connectivity. Matsulu and Mirzay have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
