The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Kanyamazane plotted against Mpumalanga and South Africa. The SNDi of new construction in Kanyamazane followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, compared to Mpumalanga which rose steadily and South Africa which rose steadily. Most recently, Kanyamazane's incremental SNDi rose from 4.7 to 5.39 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Kanyamazane ranked 12th out of 13 cities in Mpumalanga and 62nd out of 81 in South Africa as of 2020.

In new street additions, Kanyamazane and Sihui both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Quetzaltenango built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. For the full street network, though, all three cities follow the same trend. Kanyamazane and Quetzaltenango have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
