The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Jowhar plotted against Shabeellaha Dhexe and Somalia. The SNDi of new construction in Jowhar rose steadily, compared to Shabeellaha Dhexe which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Somalia which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Jowhar's incremental SNDi rose from 0.99 to 1.54 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Jowhar ranked 1st out of 2 cities in Shabeellaha Dhexe and 3rd out of 39 in Somalia as of 2020.

In new street additions, Jowhar and Khanpur both built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Ningjiang built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. For the full street network, though, all three cities follow the same trend.
