The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Yanbu` plotted against Al Madinah and Saudi Arabia. The SNDi of new construction in Yanbu` was at its lowest in 1976-1990, compared to Al Madinah which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Saudi Arabia which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Yanbu`'s incremental SNDi rose from 2.29 to 2.58 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Yanbu` ranked 1st out of 2 cities in Al Madinah and 10th out of 44 in Saudi Arabia as of 2020.

In new street additions, Yanbu` built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then shifted to more disconnected patterns, while Wuwei built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved and Beanibazar fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full network, Yanbu` became more connected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then grew more sprawly from 1991-2005 onwards, while Wuwei grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved and Beanibazar fluctuated in connectivity. Notably, Yanbu` had a more sprawly network than Wuwei in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
