Zamboanga City in context: Street-network sprawl trends

The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Zamboanga City plotted against Zamboanga del Sur and Philippines. The SNDi of new construction in Zamboanga City followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, compared to Zamboanga del Sur which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Philippines which rose steadily. Most recently, Zamboanga City's incremental SNDi rose from 5.4 to 5.95 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Zamboanga City ranked 2nd out of 2 cities in Zamboanga del Sur and 94th out of 114 in Philippines as of 2020.
