The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Samchon plotted against Hwanghae-namdo and North Korea. The SNDi of new construction in Samchon followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, compared to Hwanghae-namdo which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and North Korea which peaked in 1976-1990. Most recently, Samchon's incremental SNDi rose from 10.54 to 11.73 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Samchon ranked 15th out of 15 cities in Hwanghae-namdo and 92nd out of 92 in North Korea as of 2020.

In new street additions, Samchon and Zajira both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Bemetara built increasingly disconnected streets over time. For the full network, Samchon and Bemetara both became progressively more disconnected, while Zajira fluctuated in connectivity. Samchon and Bemetara have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
