The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Amarawa plotted against Sokoto and Nigeria. While Sokoto and Nigeria both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Amarawa's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Amarawa's incremental SNDi rose from 2.71 to 3.4 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Amarawa ranked 3rd out of 6 cities in Sokoto and 145th out of 422 in Nigeria as of 2020.

In new street additions, Amarawa and Bencheng both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Zichang built increasingly disconnected streets over time. For the full network, Amarawa and Zichang both became progressively more disconnected, while Bencheng fluctuated in connectivity. Notably, Amarawa had a more sprawly network than Zichang in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
