The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Mashi plotted against Katsina and Nigeria. The SNDi of new construction in Mashi rose steadily, compared to Katsina which rose steadily and Nigeria which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Mashi's incremental SNDi rose from 2.01 to 4.05 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Mashi ranked 10th out of 15 cities in Katsina and 80th out of 422 in Nigeria as of 2020.

In new street additions, Mashi built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Rivas-Vaciamadrid built increasingly connected streets over time and San Jose fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full network, Mashi and San Jose both became progressively more disconnected, while Rivas-Vaciamadrid became progressively more connected. Mashi and Rivas-Vaciamadrid have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
