All three follow the same trend in new construction, suggesting a shared regional pattern of development. In terms of the aggregate network, Dikwa ranked 9th out of 16 cities in Borno and 69th out of 422 in Nigeria as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
In new street additions, Dikwa and Lezhi both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Madhupur built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. For the full network, Dikwa and Madhupur both became progressively more disconnected, while Lezhi grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. Dikwa and Madhupur have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
