The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Alkalere plotted against Bauchi and Nigeria. The SNDi of new construction in Alkalere followed a zig-zag trend with an overall decrease, compared to Bauchi which rose steadily and Nigeria which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Alkalere's incremental SNDi fell from 7.67 to 0.28 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Alkalere ranked 7th out of 13 cities in Bauchi and 159th out of 422 in Nigeria as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
While Akluj and Kayanza both built increasingly disconnected streets over time, Alkalere fluctuated in its street-construction patterns in new street additions. Looking at the full network, Akluj and Kayanza both became progressively more disconnected, while Alkalere fluctuated in connectivity. Alkalere and Akluj have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
