The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Shellem plotted against Adamawa and Nigeria. The SNDi of new construction in Shellem followed a zig-zag trend, compared to Adamawa which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Nigeria which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. In terms of the aggregate network, Shellem ranked 5th out of 11 cities in Adamawa and 156th out of 422 in Nigeria as of 2020.

In new street additions, Shellem fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Caconda built increasingly disconnected streets over time and Budyonnovsk built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. Looking at the full network, Caconda and Budyonnovsk both became progressively more disconnected, while Shellem became progressively more disconnected. Notably, Shellem had a more connected network than Budyonnovsk in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
