The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Nijmegen plotted against Gelderland and Netherlands. The SNDi of new construction in Nijmegen followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, compared to Gelderland which peaked in 1991-2005 and Netherlands which peaked in 1991-2005. Most recently, Nijmegen's incremental SNDi rose from 2.14 to 2.23 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Nijmegen ranked 3rd out of 4 cities in Gelderland and 29th out of 43 in Netherlands as of 2020.

In new street additions, Nijmegen and Luputa both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Salalah built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. For the full network, Nijmegen and Luputa both became progressively more disconnected, while Salalah grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. Nijmegen and Salalah have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
