The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Tangyan plotted against Shan and Myanmar. All three follow the same trend in new construction, suggesting a shared regional pattern of development. Most recently, Tangyan's incremental SNDi rose from 3.86 to 4.43 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Tangyan ranked 16th out of 19 cities in Shan and 76th out of 113 in Myanmar as of 2020.

In new street additions, Tangyan and Barawa both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Tengchong built increasingly disconnected streets over time. For the full network, Tangyan and Tengchong both became progressively more disconnected, while Barawa fluctuated in connectivity. Tangyan and Barawa have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
