The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Aungpan plotted against Shan and Myanmar. All three follow the same trend in new construction, suggesting a shared regional pattern of development. Most recently, Aungpan's incremental SNDi rose from 2.21 to 3.82 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Aungpan ranked 3rd out of 19 cities in Shan and 15th out of 113 in Myanmar as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
In new street additions, Aungpan fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Jalalabad built increasingly disconnected streets over time and Sujanagar fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full network, Aungpan and Jalalabad both became progressively more disconnected, while Sujanagar became progressively more disconnected. Aungpan and Jalalabad have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
