The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Thaton plotted against Mon and Myanmar. The SNDi of new construction in Thaton rose steadily, compared to Mon which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Myanmar which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Thaton's incremental SNDi rose from 3.37 to 4.73 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Thaton ranked 1st out of 6 cities in Mon and 31st out of 113 in Myanmar as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
Thaton, Shire, and Hansi all built increasingly disconnected streets over time in new street construction. The same pattern holds for the full street network. Notably, Thaton had a more connected network than Hansi in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
