The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Zitácuaro plotted against Michoacán and México. The SNDi of new construction in Zitácuaro rose steadily, compared to Michoacán which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and México which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Zitácuaro's incremental SNDi rose from 4.08 to 5.3 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Zitácuaro ranked 13th out of 13 cities in Michoacán and 154th out of 182 in México as of 2020.

In new street additions, Zitácuaro and Sitiawan both built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Rong'an fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full network, Zitácuaro and Sitiawan both became progressively more disconnected, while Rong'an fluctuated in connectivity. Notably, Zitácuaro had a more connected network than Rong'an in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
