The SNDi of new construction in Semporna followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, compared to Sabah which rose steadily and Malaysia which rose steadily. Most recently, Semporna's incremental SNDi rose from 6.44 to 8.0 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Semporna ranked 4th out of 6 cities in Sabah and 41st out of 43 in Malaysia as of 2020.

In new street additions, Semporna and Sogamoso both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Seles built increasingly disconnected streets over time. For the full street network, though, all three cities follow the same trend.
