The SNDi of new construction in Sungai Petani followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, compared to Kedah which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Malaysia which rose steadily. Most recently, Sungai Petani's incremental SNDi rose from 4.03 to 4.49 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In new street additions, Sungai Petani and Khanewal both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Thái Nguyên built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then shifted to more disconnected patterns. For the full network, Sungai Petani and Khanewal both became progressively more disconnected, while Thái Nguyên became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards. Sungai Petani and Khanewal have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
