The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Farafangana plotted against Fianarantsoa and Madagascar. The SNDi of new construction in Farafangana followed a zig-zag trend with an overall decrease, compared to Fianarantsoa which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Madagascar which rose steadily. Most recently, Farafangana's incremental SNDi rose from 1.26 to 1.42 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Farafangana ranked 1st out of 3 cities in Fianarantsoa and 1st out of 21 in Madagascar as of 2020.

In new street additions, Farafangana fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Bocholt built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved and Matiranga built increasingly disconnected streets over time. Looking at the full network, Bocholt and Matiranga both became progressively more disconnected, while Farafangana grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. Farafangana and Bocholt have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
