While Nagano and Japan both followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, Suwa's new street additions followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Suwa's incremental SNDi rose from 2.18 to 2.53 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Suwa ranked 5th out of 6 cities in Nagano and 63rd out of 135 in Japan as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
While Telde and Chartres both built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved, Suwa fluctuated in its street-construction patterns in new street additions. For the full network, Suwa fluctuated in connectivity, while Telde grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved and Chartres grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. Suwa and Chartres have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
