What about similarly populated cities?
In new street additions, Venice fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Mudanya built increasingly disconnected streets over time and Dongfeng built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. Looking at the full network, Mudanya and Dongfeng both became progressively more disconnected, while Venice became progressively more connected. Notably, Venice had a more sprawly network than Mudanya in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
