Nahariyya in context: Street-network sprawl trends
Nahariyya in context
The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Nahariyya plotted against HaZafon and Israel. All three follow the same trend in new construction, suggesting a shared regional pattern of development. Most recently, Nahariyya's incremental SNDi fell from 4.2 to 3.75 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Nahariyya ranked 1st out of 5 cities in HaZafon and 14th out of 22 in Israel as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
- Poxin, China
- Penápolis, Brazil
- Atascocita, United States
- La Concepción, Venezuela
- Cuimba, Angola
- Espinal, Colombia
While Poxin and La Concepción both built increasingly disconnected streets over time, Nahariyya built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved in new street additions. For the full street network, though, all three cities follow the same trend. Notably, Nahariyya had a more sprawly network than Poxin in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
