The SNDi of new construction in Gayara peaked in 1991-2005, compared to Ninawa which peaked in 1991-2005 and Iraq which peaked in 1976-1990. Most recently, Gayara's incremental SNDi fell from 5.45 to 4.79 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Gayara ranked 8th out of 12 cities in Ninawa and 80th out of 86 in Iraq as of 2020.

In new street additions, Gayara built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved, while Xushui District built increasingly disconnected streets over time and Phaphamau built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. For the full network, Gayara and Xushui District both became progressively more disconnected, while Phaphamau grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. Gayara and Phaphamau have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
