The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Al Baaj plotted against Ninawa and Iraq. The SNDi of new construction in Al Baaj followed a zig-zag trend with an overall decrease, compared to Ninawa which peaked in 1991-2005 and Iraq which peaked in 1976-1990. Most recently, Al Baaj's incremental SNDi fell from 1.39 to 1.33 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Al Baaj ranked 1st out of 12 cities in Ninawa and 2nd out of 86 in Iraq as of 2020.

In new street additions, Al Baaj and Diankou both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Huanghua built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. For the full network, Al Baaj and Diankou both became progressively more connected, while Huanghua became progressively more disconnected. Al Baaj and Huanghua have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
