The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Palembang plotted against Sumatera Selatan and Indonesia. The SNDi of new construction in Palembang followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, compared to Sumatera Selatan which peaked in 1991-2005 and Indonesia which rose steadily. Most recently, Palembang's incremental SNDi rose from 5.15 to 5.68 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Palembang ranked 9th out of 11 cities in Sumatera Selatan and 285th out of 366 in Indonesia as of 2020.

In new street additions, Palembang fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Las Vegas built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then shifted to more disconnected patterns and Nantong built increasingly disconnected streets over time. For the full network, Palembang and Nantong both became progressively more disconnected, while Las Vegas became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards.
