Ngabang in context: Street-network sprawl trends

The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Ngabang plotted against Kalimantan Barat and Indonesia. The SNDi of new construction in Ngabang peaked in 1991-2005, compared to Kalimantan Barat which rose steadily and Indonesia which rose steadily. Most recently, Ngabang's incremental SNDi fell from 5.05 to 5.03 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Ngabang ranked 4th out of 9 cities in Kalimantan Barat and 261st out of 366 in Indonesia as of 2020.

In new street additions, Ngabang built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved, while Fengjing fluctuated in its street-construction patterns and Fundación fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full network, Ngabang and Fundación both became progressively more disconnected, while Fengjing fluctuated in connectivity. Ngabang and Fengjing have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
