Jaswantnagar in context: Street-network sprawl trends

The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Jaswantnagar plotted against Uttar Pradesh and India. The SNDi of new construction in Jaswantnagar was at its lowest in 1976-1990, compared to Uttar Pradesh which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and India which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Jaswantnagar's incremental SNDi rose from 4.79 to 4.99 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Jaswantnagar ranked 220th out of 291 cities in Uttar Pradesh and 1398th out of 1868 in India as of 2020.

In new street additions, Jaswantnagar built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then shifted to more disconnected patterns, while Neihuang built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved and Antigua Guatemala built increasingly disconnected streets over time. Looking at the full network, Neihuang and Antigua Guatemala both became progressively more disconnected, while Jaswantnagar became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards. Jaswantnagar and Antigua Guatemala have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
