Ukhrul in context: Street-network sprawl trends

The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Ukhrul plotted against Manipur and India. The SNDi of new construction in Ukhrul followed a zig-zag trend, compared to Manipur which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and India which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. In terms of the aggregate network, Ukhrul ranked 4th out of 7 cities in Manipur and 1507th out of 1868 in India as of 2020.

In new street additions, Ukhrul fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Osijek built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then shifted to more disconnected patterns and Sidi Aissa fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full network, Ukhrul fluctuated in connectivity, while Osijek became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards and Sidi Aissa became progressively more disconnected. Ukhrul and Osijek have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
