The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Bengaluru plotted against Karnataka and India. The SNDi of new construction in Bengaluru rose steadily, compared to Karnataka which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and India which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Bengaluru's incremental SNDi rose from 3.91 to 4.73 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Bengaluru ranked 81st out of 96 cities in Karnataka and 898th out of 1868 in India as of 2020.

Bengaluru, Lahore, and Ho Chi Minh City all built increasingly disconnected streets over time in new street construction. The same pattern holds for the full street network. Notably, Bengaluru had a more connected network than Lahore in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
