Kathara in context: Street-network sprawl trends

The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Kathara plotted against Jharkhand and India. The SNDi of new construction in Kathara followed a zig-zag trend with an overall decrease, compared to Jharkhand which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and India which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. In terms of the aggregate network, Kathara ranked 28th out of 46 cities in Jharkhand and 1105th out of 1868 in India as of 2020.

In new street additions, Kathara fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Savelugu fluctuated in its street-construction patterns and Harda built increasingly connected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then shifted to more disconnected patterns. For the full network, Kathara grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved, while Savelugu became progressively more disconnected and Harda became more connected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then grew more sprawly from 1976-1990 onwards.
