Narsipatnam in context: Street-network sprawl trends

The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Narsipatnam plotted against Andhra Pradesh and India. The SNDi of new construction in Narsipatnam rose steadily, compared to Andhra Pradesh which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and India which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Narsipatnam's incremental SNDi rose from 4.55 to 6.35 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Narsipatnam ranked 79th out of 91 cities in Andhra Pradesh and 1151st out of 1868 in India as of 2020.

For the full network, Narsipatnam and Jalaid both became progressively more disconnected, while Apalit grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. Narsipatnam and Jalaid have been converging in their street-network character since 1975.
