The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Kumasi plotted against Ashanti and Ghana. The SNDi of new construction in Kumasi rose steadily, compared to Ashanti which rose steadily and Ghana which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Kumasi's incremental SNDi rose from 4.35 to 5.04 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Kumasi ranked 4th out of 7 cities in Ashanti and 29th out of 53 in Ghana as of 2020.

In new street additions, Kumasi and Peshawar both built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Ürümqi fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full street network, though, all three cities follow the same trend. Kumasi and Peshawar have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
