The SNDi of new construction in Siegen followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, compared to Nordrhein-Westfalen which rose steadily and Germany which rose steadily. Most recently, Siegen's incremental SNDi rose from 3.71 to 5.37 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Siegen ranked 22nd out of 24 cities in Nordrhein-Westfalen and 93rd out of 99 in Germany as of 2020.

What about similarly populated cities?
In new street additions, Siegen and Huguan both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Zhongshan built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. For the full network, Siegen and Zhongshan both became progressively more disconnected, while Huguan fluctuated in connectivity.
