The SNDi of new construction in Lens followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase, compared to Hauts-de-France which peaked in 1991-2005 and France which peaked in 1991-2005. Most recently, Lens's incremental SNDi rose from 3.32 to 3.39 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Lens ranked 6th out of 10 cities in Hauts-de-France and 35th out of 73 in France as of 2020.

In new street additions, Lens and Gangu both fluctuated in its street-construction patterns, while Afamolla built increasingly disconnected streets over time. For the full street network, though, all three cities follow the same trend. Lens and Gangu have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
