The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Welkite plotted against Southern Nations, Nationalities and Ethiopia. The SNDi of new construction in Welkite rose steadily, compared to Southern Nations, Nationalities which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Ethiopia which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Welkite's incremental SNDi rose from 2.53 to 3.75 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Welkite ranked 27th out of 39 cities in Southern Nations, Nationalities and 107th out of 181 in Ethiopia as of 2020.

In new street additions, Welkite built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Changjiang Li Autonomous County built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved and Catbalogan built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. For the full network, Welkite and Catbalogan both became progressively more disconnected, while Changjiang Li Autonomous County grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. Notably, Welkite had a more connected network than Changjiang Li Autonomous County in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
