The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Jijiga plotted against Somali and Ethiopia. The SNDi of new construction in Jijiga rose steadily, compared to Somali which was at its lowest in 1991-2005 and Ethiopia which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Jijiga's incremental SNDi rose from 1.93 to 2.77 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Jijiga ranked 7th out of 12 cities in Somali and 53rd out of 181 in Ethiopia as of 2020.

In new street additions, Jijiga built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Jakdo-dong built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved and Dera Ismail Khan fluctuated in its street-construction patterns. For the full network, Jijiga became progressively more disconnected, while Jakdo-dong grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved and Dera Ismail Khan fluctuated in connectivity.
