The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Welenchete plotted against Oromia and Ethiopia. The SNDi of new construction in Welenchete rose steadily, compared to Oromia which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Ethiopia which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Welenchete's incremental SNDi rose from 2.21 to 2.93 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Welenchete ranked 16th out of 71 cities in Oromia and 45th out of 181 in Ethiopia as of 2020.

In new street additions, Welenchete and Trelew both built increasingly disconnected streets over time, while Phyongsan built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. For the full network, Welenchete and Trelew both became progressively more disconnected, while Phyongsan grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1991-2005, then improved. Welenchete and Trelew have been growing further apart in their street-network character since 1975.
