The chart above shows SNDi trends for new street additions (left panel) and the entire network (right panel), with Chelenko plotted against Oromia and Ethiopia. The SNDi of new construction in Chelenko peaked in 1976-1990, compared to Oromia which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase and Ethiopia which followed a zig-zag trend with an overall increase. Most recently, Chelenko's incremental SNDi fell from 5.13 to 5.06 between 1991-2005 and 2006-2020. In terms of the aggregate network, Chelenko ranked 68th out of 71 cities in Oromia and 172nd out of 181 in Ethiopia as of 2020.

In new street additions, Chelenko and Lvjiatuo both built increasingly disconnected streets from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved, while Marondera built increasingly disconnected streets over time. For the full network, Chelenko and Marondera both became progressively more disconnected, while Lvjiatuo grew more disconnected from 1975 through 1976-1990, then improved. Notably, Chelenko had a more connected network than Lvjiatuo in 1975 but the two have since reversed their relative ranking.
